A 30-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of abducting an 11-year-old girl last month, police said.
The girl, from Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, went missing on the afternoon of Jan. 11 while walking her dog and turned up early Jan. 15 at an empty police box in Chigasaki, about 25 km from her home.
Nobuo Takagi of Machida in western Tokyo was arrested based on witness reports and other information, they said.
The girl told police that a man picked her up in a car.
