F-35 missile work eyed with Britain

The Defense Ministry may partner up with Britain to jointly develop missiles for the F-35 stealth fighter, sources said.

The collaboration would be the second enabled by the 2011 easing of Japan’s arms export ban after a deal on developing suits to protect against chemical weapons was struck last June.

The Japanese government hopes to enhance its relations with staunch U.S. ally Britain because it sees its security situation as becoming increasingly complex, the sources said.

Unfortunately, ELP’s concerns are not exaggerated. Lot’s of risk and uncertainty remains with the Program. In my view, it’s probably wise and prudent proposal to joint-develop those improved systems for existing legacy platforms — sooner.
