Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare Co. said Thursday it has halted sales of its skin lotions, distributed by mail order and primarily targeting customers in their 40s or older, following complaints from users of swollen or itchy skin.

While more than 270 users of the Derma Energy series of skin care cosmetics reported problems to physicians, a company representative said the firm "will not recall the products because we have not received reports of serious symptoms."

"If consumers stop using the products, their symptoms will be alleviated in two to three weeks," the representative said.
