Narita Chiba Pref.

A local taxi firm has started offering sightseeing tours to sake breweries and other spots around Narita International Airport, expecting demand from foreign tourists and passengers on stopovers.

The area around the airport is dotted with numerous old cities and sake breweries dating back to the Edo Period, which lasted from 1603 to 1868.

The cab firm is offering four different tours that last between four and six hours and cost from ¥10,000 to ¥20,000.

The airport will place ads for the tours in its lounges with backing from local governments and the central government, which are working to tap transitory travelers.

“We hope stopover passengers and visitors staying around the airport will enjoy local sake tours,” an official at the taxi company said.
