Mazda to up output of Skyactiv engines

Mazda Motor Corp. said Tuesday that it will increase the annual production capacity for its Skyactiv fuel-efficient engines at its flagship Hiroshima plant to 1 million units from 800,000 units by the end of 2014.

Mazda will install a new engine-machining line at the plant. In addition, an existing assembly line now used exclusively for in-line four-cylinder engines will be revamped to produce Skyactiv engines as well.
