An audiovisual museum showcasing content produced by BBC Earth — BBC Worldwide's global natural history brand — and technologies developed by video game giant Sega Corp. opened Monday in Yokohama.

Adventurer Yuichiro Miura, who in May became the oldest person to climb Mount Everest at the age of 80, attended the opening ceremony of the Orbi Yokohama museum.

The centerpiece of the museum, which is in the Mark Is Minatomirai shopping mall, is Theater 23.4, named for the degree of tilt in the Earth's axis as it orbits the sun.

Its screen, at 40 meters wide and 8 meters high, is one of the largest in Japan and will show 20-minute-long screenings of nature scenes.

Sega is a unit of Sega Sammy Holdings Inc.
