May industrial output revised lower


Industrial production for May increased 1.9 percent from the previous month, revised down from the preliminary reading of a 2.0 percent rise, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday.

The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 97.7 against 100 for the base year of 2010, METI said in a revised industrial output report.

The shipment index rose 1.0 percent to 96.8, up from 0.8 percent in the preliminary report released late last month. The inventory index dropped 0.4 percent to 107.7 percent, compared with the preliminary reading of a 0.3 percent decline.
