The chairman of China's Lenovo Group Ltd., Roderick Lappin, will take over as head of NEC Personal Computers Ltd. and Lenovo Japan Ltd. effective June 28 to pursue faster decision-making and boost sales of PCs and tablet devices, the companies announced Tuesday.

The two firms are owned by Lenovo NEC Holdings B.V., a joint venture established in 2011 by Lenovo Group and NEC Corp. Lenovo holds a 51 percent stake in the holding company and NEC controls the remainder.

The holding firm will also be headed by Lappin, currently chairman and vice president of Lenovo Group, also from June 28.
