Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said Wednesday it will provide a U.S. utility firm with a power generation system to be installed at a power plant in Oregon.

Mitsubishi Heavy's U.S. arm, Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc., won the deal — for a 440-megawatt natural gas-fired gas turbine combined cycle power generation system for the plant currently under construction for Portland General Electric Co. — from Spanish engineering firm Abengoa SA. The new plant will commence operation in summer 2016, according to Mitsubishi Heavy.

Mitsubishi Power Systems also signed a long-term service agreement with the Abengoa subsidiary to provide the plant with maintenance and repair services.
