Kyodo News on Monday dismissed senior official Satoshi Kondo, who formerly served as personnel affairs director, over inappropriate conduct toward a student who was applying for a job at the news agency.

In connection with Kyodo's recruitment activities for 2013, Kondo personally contacted the student to correct her essay and engaged in inappropriate conduct.

In addition to Kondo's dismissal, Kyodo News also imposed pay cuts on President Satoshi Ishikawa, Senior Executive Director Shuichi Ito and General Administration Department Managing Director Masahiko Toyota.
