March industrial output upgraded


Industrial production in March rose a revised 0.9 percent from the previous month, against the preliminary reading of a 0.2 percent increase, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Thursday.

The reading represents the fourth consecutive monthly growth, in a sign that production is picking up.

The seasonally adjusted production index for the manufacturing and mining sectors stood at 90.4 against 100 for the base year of 2005, METI said.

The shipment index rose 1.2 percent to 92.4, against the preliminary reading of 0.3 percent growth, while the inventory index was up 0.2 percent at 102.8, compared with the preliminary reading a 0.2 percent decline.
