U.S. Special Envoy on N. Korea to Visit Asia Next Week

The U.S. Department of State on Thursday said Glyn Davies, special representative for North Korea policy, will visit Japan, China and South Korea next week.

During his three-day stay in Japan from May 16, Davies will hold discussions with Japanese officials, including Shinsuke Sugiyama, director general of the Foreign Ministry’s Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau.

Before his arrival in Japan, Davies will visit South Korea from Monday to Wednesday to meet with Lim Sung Nam, South Korea’s chief negotiator for Korean Peninsula peace and security.

Between Wednesday and May 16, the U.S. official will be in China, where he will hold talks with Wu Dawei, China’s special envoy for Korean Peninsula issues.
