Huffington Post and Asahi team up

The operator of The Huffington Post and the Asahi Shimbun Co. have established a joint venture in Tokyo to run a Japanese version of the U.S. news website.

The site will start May 7 with an editorial staff of 10 as the first Huffington Post edition published for an Asian country, the two announced Tuesday.

Established in 2005, The Huffington Post has 46 million visitors, 8 million comments per month and 30,000 bloggers on its site.
