The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said its computer system has been hacked and data related to the Kibo space lab and email addresses of JAXA and NASA officials may have been leaked.

The breach is not expected to affect the operation of the laboratory attached to the International Space Station as its terrestrial control room is not linked to the Internet.

JAXA said it found traces that unauthorized accesses were made shortly after 11 p.m. April 17 from somewhere in Japan and China.
