Sony Corp. said former President Ryoji Chubachi will resign as vice chairman and representative corporate executive officer, effective Sunday.
Chubachi, 65, will also resign from the board at a general shareholders’ meeting scheduled for June.
He is slated Monday to take up the post of president of the government-affiliated National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.
Howard Stringer, 71, chairman of Sony’s board of directors, has also indicated his intention to step down in June.
Chubachi joined Sony in 1977. He assumed his current post in April 2009, after serving as president and representative corporate executive officer from 2005.
