Actor and singer Ryotaro Sugi, known for his roles in numerous samurai dramas, was appointed Monday as special ambassador to promote the 40th anniversary of cooperative ties between Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Sugi, 68, will be involved in promotional campaigns for a musical festival to be held in Tokyo in November as part of events to commemorate the anniversary.
