Firms eye Brazil oil development plans


A consortium of Japanese firms, including IHI Corp. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., is considering oil development off Brazil and plans to construct a giant floating structure that would serve as a relay point for offshore oil fiends.

The infrastructure ministry has approved the participating companies’ plan to form a technological research group for the project, sources said Tuesday.
