Jetstar engine woe scrubs seven flights

JIJI

Low-cost carrier Jetstar Japan said Monday it will cancel seven flights Wednesday and Thursday as it is unable to replace a malfunctioning engine on one of its Airbus A320 jets.

The cancellations will affect almost 800 passengers, and more flights are likely to be canceled in the following days.

Canceled are two flights Wednesday between Narita airport and Okinawa’s Naha Airport. On Thursday, five flights, including one between Narita and Kansai in Osaka, will be affected.

On Saturday morning, Jetstar Flight 134 was aborted on takeoff after an alert indicated engine trouble. A later investigation found the right engine’s exhaust temperature had exceeded the limit, requiring it to be replaced.
