The number of visitors to Tokyo Skytree and the adjacent Tokyo Solamachi commercial complex totaled 910,000 from New Year's Eve through the first three days of the year, its operator said.

Tobu Tower Skytree Co. also said Friday this figure included 73,000 people who visited the 350-meter-high main observation deck of the 634-meter tower, which opened to the public May 22.

Of the visitors to the main deck, some 1,000 were selected in a draw to view the first sunrise of the year from the world's tallest broadcast tower between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m., the operator said.

"Many customers came to our facilities partly because we had nice weather on those days," a Tobu Tower Skytree official said.
