Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. said Monday its group company has acquired Instrument Systems GmbH, a major German manufacturer of lighting measurement equipment.

The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.

Konica Minolta Optics, Inc., which makes and sells optical products and measuring instruments for industrial and health care applications, will be aided by the technology of the Munich-based firm, which has earned a strong reputation globally as a provider of light measurement instruments, such as spectrometers and image photometers.

With the acquisition, the Japanese maker hopes to broaden its product lineup in the display measurement field, as well as reinforce its leading position in the field of comprehensive light source measurement, it added.

Instrument Systems has around 100 employees.
