Nara police have suspended the driver's license of a 61-year-old man who collided with a motorcycle while riding his bicycle in May and left the scene of the accident despite the injured rider's request for an ambulance.

The police said Tuesday that while it is unusual for a driver's license to be suspended due to a bicycle accident, they judged that the man could cause a similar accident when driving a car. His license has been suspended for 150 days.

According to the police, the man's bicycle collided with the motorcycle when he was crossing a street in the city of Nara.

The motorcyclist, who suffered a broken collarbone, asked the man to call an ambulance, but the man left without calling for help.
