OSAKA – The operator of Kansai International Airport said it posted a net loss of ¥11.2 billion for the semiannual period through September, its first result since integrating the operations of Osaka International Airport, also known as Itami airport.
New Kansai International Airport Co. said Wednesday that although it was set up April 1, the latest semiannual results reflect chiefly those of the period after the July integration of Kansai International, which serves domestic and international routes, and Itami, which operates domestic flights only.
The loss factored in a charge for reassessing the assets of Kansai International after the integration, it said. Its debt at Sept. 30 stood at ¥969.8 billion, down ¥36.4 billion from the premerger Kansai operator’s balance of debt at March 31. This was the first time the debt dropped below ¥1 trillion since the firm started publishing consolidated results in fiscal 2000.
