GM plans more job cuts in Europe

General Motors said Wednesday its job cuts in Europe will total 2,600 this year, and it plans to cut production at its troubled Opel unit’s Eisenach car plant in Germany in 2013.

To date 2,300 people have left under the planned 2012 head-count reduction, GM Vice Chairman Steve Girsky said after the carmaker announced a 12 percent profit drop for the third quarter.
