OSAKA – Mitsubishi Electric Corp. held a ceremony Wednesday in Kobe marking its cumulative output of 2,000 turbine power generators for utilities.
The company said inquiries for generators have grown after Japanese utilities boosted thermal power production in light of the March 2011 disaster at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.
Overseas, a construction boom for power plants, mainly in emerging countries, has also raised demand for turbine generators at high-efficiency power generation facilities, Mitsubishi Electric said.
The company has increased annual production capacity of turbine generators to 60 units from 45, it said.
