Central Japan International Airport serving Nagoya marked its 100 millionth visitor with a ceremony Tuesday in the passenger terminal building, achieving the milestone 7½ years after opening in February 2005.

Passengers and those seeing them off will receive sweets and mementos on the fourth floor of the terminal building Wednesday and Thursday, the operator said. There will be a thank-you lottery Sept. 14, with winners receiving overseas tours using the airport, among other prizes.

The offshore airport, known as Centrair, in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, had its 50 millionth visitor in 2008. As of Aug. 1, the airport offered services linking 26 overseas and 17 domestic cities.
