A Foreign Ministry employee was found dead June 20 in Chiba Prefecture, it was learned Monday.
Chiba police did not see any sign that the official was involved in foul play. The employee, who belonged to the Second Division of the Intelligence and Analysis Service, is thus believed to have committed suicide, sources said.
The employee had been questioned by the ministry over the handling of information related to China’s military vehicle exports to North Korea, government sources said.
The employee had been on loan to the ministry from the Japan Coast Guard’s office in the city of Chiba since April last year.
