Shimizu Corp. , Obayashi Corp. , Nishimatsu Construction Co. and Hazama Corp., are expected to start the work in June.
The cleanup will be conducted in five districts of Date where radiation levels are relatively high. The city plans to complete the work by the end of March.
The city has already started radiation cleanup on a limited scale.
Shimizu will be in charge of two of the five districts, and Obayashi, Nishimatsu and Hazama will each take care of one district.
The project will cover a total of 512 hectares and some 2,500 houses, as well as public facilities and roads.
