Car-sharing network to get Honda EVs

Honda Motor Co. said Wednesday it will offer its electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to major U.S. car-sharing network Zipcar Inc.

Starting this fall, Honda plans to offer its Fit EV compact, which will be launched on a lease-only basis in the U.S. this summer, and the plug-in hybrid version of its Accord sedan in early 2013, it said.

Honda apparently expects the deal to improve sales of the models as people get more chances to try them.

Zipcar also operates in Britain and Canada, and has around 673,000 members.
