Toyota chief to head auto lobby

Kyodo

Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corp., will become the head of Japan’s auto manufacturing lobby in May to succeed Toshiyuki Shiga, Nissan Motor Co.’s chief operating officer, industry sources said Thursday.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association will formally decide on the change of leadership at its next board meeting on March 15, they said.

Senior officials of Toyota, Nissan and Honda Motor Co. have served the two-year term of JAMA’s top post on a rotational basis.
