Mystery Writers of America on Thursday announced its nominees for the 2012 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, including “The Devotion of Suspect X” by Keigo Higashino of Japan for the best novel category.

The awards, which are given to honor the best in mystery fiction, nonfiction and television published or produced in 2011, will be presented to the winners on April 26, the New York-based organization for mystery writers said. The English translation of “The Devotion of Suspect X” was published in February 2011. It was originally published in 2005 under the title “Yogisha X no Kenshin.”

In 2006, Higashino won Japan’s Naoki Prize for seasoned writers with the novel.
