A charter fishing boat overturned Monday off Oita Prefecture, but the crew and all 13 anglers aboard were rescued by a nearby fishing boat, the Japan Coast Guard said.
The Ebisu Maru overturned just west of Senzakibana Point in the city of Saeki at around 6:20 a.m., slightly injuring two anglers.
The fishing boat that came to their rescue entered Nishinoura port in Saeki at around 8:30 a.m., the coast guard said.
The boat, which left the port at around 6 a.m., is believed to have run ashore before capsizing, the coast guard said, adding they are questioning Tadashi Kusumegi, the captain, about the incident.
A warning for strong winds and high surf had been issued at the time, the Oita Local Meteorological Observatory said.
