China warns of Subaru brake flaws

Kyodo

China has warned that two imported vehicles manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. have brake-related design flaws that can lengthen their stopping distance.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Friday that the flaws have already caused accidents involving the Subaru Legacy, the automaker’s mainstay model, and the Outback sport utility vehicle.

Subject to the warning are Legacy models made between Sept. 21 and Nov. 15, and Outbacks made between Nov. 29 and Dec. 19, it said, adding that a total of 7,133 of the vehicles were imported to mainland China.

Consumers were urged to check with their dealerships wether their cars have the designs flaws, while both the manufacturer and dealers were asked to immediately repair the problems if confirmed.
