Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency began a followup examination Monday of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant in Niigata Prefecture, the world's largest, which leaked a small amount of radiation after a powerful earthquake in July.

The five-day examination will mainly focus on talks with officials of the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency in Tokyo to obtain the latest results of studies regarding the plant, which has been shut since the magnitude-6.8 quake, the IAEA said.

The team is collecting information that wasn't available on the previous fact-finding mission on the heels of the July 16 quake, which killed more than 10 people and injured at least 2,000.
