Prime Minister and Liberal Democratic Party President Junichiro Koizumi reappointed Tsutomu Takebe, 64, to the party's No. 2 post of secretary general, while switching LDP Diet affairs chief Hidenao Nakagawa to the post of policy affairs chief.
The reshuffle of the three LDP key posts -- secretary general, executive council chairman and policy research council chairman -- brought few surprises, with no change in two of the three top positions.
Executive Council Chairman Fumio Kyuma, 64, also remained in his post.
