McDonald’s insanely crazy chocolate-covered fries aren’t what they seem

by

Special To The Japan Times

Reactions to the release of McDonald’s new “McFry Potato Chocolate Sauce” (¥330) in Japan played out predictably. Many were shocked that this supposedly unholy union could exist, but chocolate-covered potato chips are neither new in Japan nor in many other countries.

McDonald’s version taste fine, striking a solid balance between savory and sweet. Each serving comes with milk chocolate and a sweet white sauce that you can apply yourself. They’ll fill you up but, despite all the online shock, aren’t that strange.

You say they’re not what they seem. Then what are they and what do they seem to be? To me they seem to be fries with milk and white chocolate sauce. Is that not correct?
