A pop-up (ポップアップ) is a short-term store that is small in size and attempts to build up interest through consumer exposure. These initiatives pop up with little warning, draw in crowds and then disappear or morph into something else. A good example of a domestic pop-up is Kirin’s Ichiban Shibori Beer Garden in Tokyo’s Shibuya District, which is open until Oct. 30.
