Crowdfunding, or クラウドファンディング, was among 150 new words Merriam-Webster's added to it's 2014 edition last week. Defined as "the practice of soliciting financial contributions from a large number of people, especially from the online community," crowdfunding's inclusion is a reflection of how the Internet is changing business in profound ways.
