Weekday organic lunch at ANA Tokyo

The ANA InterContinental Tokyo is offering a weekday Natural Organic Lunch at The Champagne Bar on the hotel’s third floor.

Each day of the week, a theme is offered: grilled dishes on Mondays, curry on Tuesdays, Thai on Wednesdays, classic Italian on Thursdays and traditional Japanese dishes on Fridays.

Customers can choose one main dish from fish, meat and vegetable options. The complete meals come with sides such as organic wheat bread, soup and salad. Also, a mini-dessert buffet is included.

Diners can come in for a casual lunch or make use of the elegant surroundings for business luncheons.

The lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at ¥1,800, including tax and a service charge. The Champagne Bar is closed on national holidays.

Mount Fuji fall dessert in Hakone

The Odakyu Hotel de Yama in the resort area of Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, will join the seasonal sweets event Hakone Sweets Collection 2013: Autumn by offering a new dessert at its Lounge from Sept. 1 to Nov. 10.

The Hakone Sweets Collection is a popular event held twice a year; for a limited time, a selection of highly original sweets are offered at various venues in and around Hakone.

The theme this time is Mount Fuji, to celebrate its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Odakyu Hotel de Yama will offer a castella sponge cake covered by a web of sugar shaped like Mount Fuji. This dessert comes with yuzu citron green tea and the castella is made with chicken eggs from the local eastern Fuji area.

In fine weather, customers can enjoy the special dessert at the Lounge’s terrace seating, which offers great views of Mount Fuji. The dessert is available at ¥1,617, with only 20 offered per day.

Taste champion bartender’s cocktails

Bartender Naomi Takahashi of the Palace Hotel Tokyo won first prize in the individual round of the Before Dinner Cocktail at the IBA World Cocktail Championship 2013 in Prague in August.

Takahashi is the first Japanese female bartender to win a prize at the International Bartenders Association competition. She works at the hotel’s Privé lounge bar and has been a champion bartender in Japan ever since she won first prize at the Nippon Bartenders Association (NBA) cocktail competition in 2012.

At Privé from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, Takahashi’s three award-winning cocktails, including Wisteria, which she made for 2013, will be available. The other two, Pallone and Plumage, won her prizes at the NBA competition in 2011 and 2012.

The cocktails are available at ¥1,800 per glass including tax and a service charge. The Palace Hotel Tokyo is situated near Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace.
