InterContinental to open in Osaka; haute cuisine at Mercedes-Benz Connection; White Day gifts at Cerulean Tower

InterContinental to open in Osaka

The InterContinental Osaka, which will open in June, has started an advanced reservation service this month for the period from July 1 through the end of this year.

The hotel is located in the large-scale business and shopping complex Grand Front Osaka, which will open on April 26 right next to Osaka Station.

The hotel’s guest rooms are designed by Bilkey Llinas Design, a firm specializing in high-end hospitality. Features include stylish sliding doors, genuine stone furniture and traditional Japanese-colored fabrics. The rooms will also be equipped with the latest digital gadgets.

The current reservation service is available by telephone or through the online reservation site for some guest rooms, priced from ¥46,200 for double occupancy on a standard floor and from ¥56,595 on a Club InterContinental floor. Prices include tax and a service charge and may vary according to the reservation date and length of stay.

Haute cuisine at luxury automaker’s

Mercedes-Benz Connection, the information center of the world-renowned luxury automobile brand, has opened a new restaurant and coffee shop at its location in the Roppongi district of Tokyo near the Tokyo Midtown business and entertainment complex.

The new venue opened last month with a French restaurant on the second floor called Upstairs. Produced by Michelin two-star chef Ryuta Iizuka of Ryuzu, also in Roppongi, Upstairs offers luxurious French course menus at reasonable prices. Some of the courses, categorized in classes like Mercedes-Benz cars, allow diners to choose from a selection of appetizers, main dishes and desserts. An extensive drinks list is also available. Downstairs Coffee on the first floor serves light meals.

Mercedes-Benz Connection also has original Mercedes-Benz goods and a gallery where visitors can see the latest Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

White Day gifts at Cerulean Tower

The Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel in the Shibuya district of Tokyo is accepting orders for its White Day (March 14) gift ideas from its pastry shop, through March 13.

White Day is a Japanese creation in which men are expected to make return gifts to women from whom they received gifts on Valentine’s Day.

Among the gifts at the hotel is Caramelo, an original confectionery that is white with a fluffy texture. It costs ¥1,200 for a package of six. Gâteaux Français is a gift set featuring baked confectionery by the hotel’s chief pastry chef, Futoshi Makino, and renowned French pastry chef Laurent Jeannin of Paris. It costs ¥1,500 per set containing five confections.

Also, there are combined sets priced at ¥2,500 and assorted chocolate priced at ¥1,800. All prices include tax.

Items can be picked up at the hotel’s pastry shop on the lobby floor from March 1 to 14.
