Win a futsal tournament, receive Liverpool tickets; new Korean Air benefits program

Virgin Atlantic Airways has announced that it will again cohost the third All England Cup Futsal Tournament in Japan in March with the international banking group Standard Chartered Bank.

The winning team will receive tickets for seven to Liverpool FC’s April 20 match versus Chelsea FC at Anfield, Liverpool’s home stadium, with Liverpool sponsor Standard Chartered’s hospitality. Also, the champions will receive seven round-trip tickets in economy class between Narita and London on Virgin Atlantic Airways. The seven members of the runnerup team will each receive a Liverpool home jersey and a Virgin Atlantic original sports towel. The third place team and all participants will receive other various goods.

The tournament will be held on March 9 at Ramos Field Indoor Futsal in Koto Ward, Tokyo. To apply, download the application form from the Virgin Atlantic Airways website below (Japanese only). The deadline is Jan. 31. The 32 selected teams will be notified Feb. 8.

Skywest buys 100 MRJs

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. and SkyWest Inc. announced that they have executed a definitive agreement for the purchase of 100 MRJ90 aircraft and an option for 100 more.

SkyWest is the holding company for two regional carriers that conduct the world’s largest combined regional airline operations. This agreement will enable them to enlarge their business in the regional airline market in the U.S.

MRJ deliveries to SkyWest are currently anticipated to commence in 2017, with deliveries of executable option aircraft currently anticipated to commence in 2021. SkyWest’s order for 100 aircraft is valued at $4.2 billion, with an additional $4.2 billion related to the executable 100 options.

Korean Air benefits

Korean Air is launching a promotion program called Excellent Boarding Pass that allows its customers flying to South Korea from abroad to receive benefits and discounts while in the country.

Customers using Korean Air partner airlines who participate in the Excellent Boarding Pass program can receive the benefits by presenting identification and the Korean Air boarding pass used to arrive in South Korea

The benefits and discounts are available within seven days from the arrival date shown on the boarding pass at 27 partner firms, such as Lotte Department Store, National Theater of Korea, the restaurant Daejanggeum, transportation services, vatious tourist attractions and places of lodging.
