Beer with a foot bath in Azabu-Juban
The Hilltop Casita restaurant in the Azabu-Juban district of Tokyo has opened its poolside dining area, offering a summer beer garden through Aug. 30.
The restaurant is located on the eighth floor and rooftop of a building in the middle of the city and offers guests splendid night views of Tokyo.
The restaurant’s poolside beer garden concept allows guests to enjoy a range of beverages, including beer, wine and soft drinks, while bathing their feet in the pool and feeling a soothing evening breeze.
Since towels and flip-flops are provided for free, customers can casually drop in after work and relax.
The beer-garden plan includes unlimited drinks for ¥3,150 per person for two hours. For an additional ¥1,000, guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat snacks such as edamame beans, potato chips and shaved ice. An a la carte menu is available, too.

Sukiyaki course to beat the heat
While the summer heat and humidity sap people’s stamina, the Japanese restaurant Kuromonto in the Aoyama area of Tokyo is offering a special sukiyaki course featuring Japan’s renowned Kobe beef for diners to regain their energy.
Located in a tranquil area, Kuromonto offers an exclusive and relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant specializes in fugu and offers authentic Japanese dishes using seasonal, fresh products from the sea and the mountains.
Through Sept. 30, the restaurant is serving a special sukiyaki course offering seasonal ingredients from the appetizer to dessert. The Kobe beef and vegetables provide a hearty main course.
The course is available to six people per day at ¥13,000 per person, including tax but subject to a service charge. Additional dishes of beef and vegetables for the sukiyaki can be ordered at ¥2,800 and ¥1,500, respectively.

Cantonese dim sum special in Osaka
Inviting dim sum chef Tommy Tang from the Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou, the Ritz-Carlton, Osaka will hold a special dim sum promotion, offering a special course from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2 at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, Xiang Tao, located on the fifth floor.
Executive chef Wo Hoi Ming (below left) from the Michelin-starred restaurant will be collaborating with Tang to offer a course featuring Tang’s special dim sum and Wo’s authentic Cantonese cuisine.
Tang’s special dim sum dishes are popular in mainland China and he will bring some of his specialties to Japan, including poached shrimp dumplings in chrysanthemum chicken broth (above left) and crisp shrimp mustard dumplings.
The course is available at ¥5,000 per person for lunch, served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and at ¥10,000 per person for dinner, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The prices include tax but are subject to a service charge.
