Prince Hotels has been offering a special accommodation package called After 4 Plan at its resort hotels near Tokyo. The plan is aimed at workers who may be finishing work earlier than usual, as companies in Japan look at ways to conserve energy this summer.
The package is offered at the Prince resorts in neighboring Kanagawa Prefecture, in places such as Hakone, Kamakura, Lake Ashinoko and Oiso, for guests to take a short trip, especially on weekends, leaving Tokyo early on a Friday evening.
Of note is the package at the Kamakura Prince Hotel, which can be reached by train in just over an hour from Tokyo Station. The plan includes a complimentary ticket to a golf driving range in the seaside area of Shichirigahama, a map of jogging routes around the hotel, breakfast and late checkout at 1 p.m. The special plan is available from ¥10,000 per person, per night, for double occupancy.

Afternoon tea with American sweets
The Conrad Tokyo is offering a special American Classic Afternoon Tea Set at its bar and lounge Twenty Eight through Sept. 30.
Traditional American classic sweets are mostly simple items made at home. The hotel offers a twist on these afternoon-tea desserts, refashioned by French cooking methods.
The hotel’s new pastry chef, Momoko Machida, serves stylish afternoon-tea sweets such as lemon meringue pies, New York cheesecake, and mango and coconut scones.
The tea set is available at ¥3,950 or ¥4,500 with a special tea from Tea Forte. Also, the Deluxe Afternoon Tea Set comes with all-you-can-drink sparkling wine for two hours at ¥6,000.

Food from Quebec lands in Tokyo
The Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi is holding a Quebecoise cuisine fair at the ekki Bar & Grill restaurant through July 14.
The hotel hosts executive chef Charles-Emmanuel Pariseau from Le Local restaurant in Montreal. The province of Quebec was populated by many immigrants from France, making for an interesting mix of Canadian and French cooking styles.
Pariseau, known as a trendsetter of Quebecoise cuisine, will present special dishes such as braised lamb shoulder with cabbage, milk-fed piglet porchetta, lobster ravioli, and chocolate and maple taffy.
Also, guests can enjoy wines paired with each dish from Norman Hardie winery in Canada. Hardie was once a sommelier and restaurant manager at a Four Seasons hotel.
A three-course lunch (or brunch on weekends) costs ¥3,900, while a three-course dinner costs ¥6,800 and a four-course dinner ¥8,800.
A la carte is also available. Prices include tax but there is an additional service charge of 10 percent.
