The Tokyo Prince Hotel’s open-air “Beer Restaurant Garden Island” will run through Sept. 24.
Guests can enjoy barbecued food with draft beer and other drinks in the garden, which is surrounded by greenery.
There are three set barbecue menus: Teppanyaki (iron-plate grill) Barbecue Set, which includes beef steak, lamb, sausages, lobster, vegetables and yakisoba noodles (¥5,000 per person); Seafood Barbeque Set, which includes lobster, king crab, scallops, squid and vegetables (¥5,000 per person); and Amiyaki (grid grill) Barbeque Set, which includes beef, pork, sausages and vegetables.
A la carte Western, Chinese and Japanese side dishes and desserts are also available from ¥400.
A glass of draft beer costs ¥800, with other drinks starting from ¥500. A two-hour unlimited drink plan is available for ¥2,500.
Advanced tickets, which combine a barbecue set and the two-hour all-you-can-drink plan, are ¥500 cheaper than the regular price.
The restaurant is open from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (last orders at 9 p.m.)

Traditional eel fare
In Japan, people traditionally eat eel to help boost stamina in the summer heat, in particular on “Doyo no Ushi no Hi,” which this year falls on July 26.
In line with this Edo Period (11603-1867) tradition, the Hyatt Regency Tokyo’s Japanese restaurant, Kakou, is offering special eel lunch and dinner courses through Aug. 31.
Two lunch courses and a dinner one feature unaju, a staple Japanese eel dish, comprising broiled eel seasoned with thick, sweetened soy sauce, served over steamed rice in a lacquered box, which is served with kimosui, a side dish made from clear soup and eel liver.
Lunch courses cost ¥6,000 or ¥4,500, and the dinner course is ¥7,000. Prices include tax, but a 10 percent service charge will be added.
The restaurant is open for lunch from 11:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (11:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays) and from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for dinner.

Austrian sweet promotion
InterContinental Tokyo Bay is running a special fair featuring Austrian dishes and sweets through July 16, timed to tie in with the staging of The Sound of Music, newly launched at Shiki Theatre, which is located near the hotel. Guests presenting their theater tickets for that day will receive a 10 percent discount on the fair’s menus. Shiki Theatre is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
For the World Dinner Buffet, the hotel’s Blue Veranda All-Day Dining restaurant will be serving four staple Austrian dishes — Wiener Schnitzel (breaded veal cutlet), Goulash, Schweinebraten (roast pork) and Forelle Blau (poached trout) — among other dishes from around the world. For dessert, 10 popular Austrian sweets are available, including Sache Torte, Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cherry cake), Linzer Torte (nut and jam cake), Apfelstrudel (apple strudel), and Mohn Kuchen (poppy seed cake). At the World Lunch Buffet, three selected Austrian dishes and three desserts are available.
The dinner buffet is ¥4,620 per adult and ¥2,310 per child (age 4 to 12) on weekdays and ¥5,660 and ¥2,680 on weekends and national holidays. The lunch buffet is ¥1,964 per adult and ¥1,271 per child on weekdays and ¥3,003 and ¥1,617 on weekends and national holidays.
In addition to the buffet, a cake and coffee set is also available at Blue Veranda for ¥1,200 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
