Unwind Bali-style in Tokyo

Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so is holding a Bali Experience promotion through June 30.

The fair brings the traditional Balinese spa treatments offered at the Four Seasons Resort Bali in Jimbaran Bay, to the Tokyo hotel’s Yu, The Spa at Four Seasons. Additionally, the decor and music tie in with Bali’s resort atmosphere.

A prize draw offers participants the chance to win two accommodation tickets for the Bali hotel.

There are five kinds of packages, ranging in length from 50 minutes to 150 minutes and costing between ¥12,000 and ¥27,500.

The 50-minute Balinese Experience (¥12,000) offers traditional Balinese massage — a skill passed down through generations that features long strokes, gentle skin-rolling, deep kneading and foot reflexology.

The Synchronized Massage, which lasts 60 minutes and costs ¥23,000, is provided by two therapists, who work the tension out of your body using a combination of massage techniques.

The Coconilla Scrub package, which lasts 75 minutes and costs ¥12,000, invigorates the skin with young, freshly shredded coconut and vanilla beans blended with coconut milk, naturally adding to the skin’s moisture and luster.

The Lulur Jimbaran option, which lasts 120 minutes and costs ¥20,000, includes a body scrub with lulur (a mild scrub made from granular turmeric, vetiver, cinnamon and rice powder), yogurt wrap, Balinese massage and a flower bath.

In the Tropical Rain treatment, which lasts 150 minutes and costs ¥27,500, a warm and calming red-ginger body scrub is followed by a gentle tropical rainfall shower. A ginger almond rinse cleanses the body prior to a Balinese massage and a flower bath.

The treatments are available from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Beer and wine at tasty prices

“The Steak House” charcoal grill restaurant at ANA InterContinental Tokyo is offering an unlimited drink plan titled “Wine & Beer Bar” at dinner time through June 30.

For guests ordering food (a course dinner or a la carte), a wide range of all-you-can-drink alcoholic and soft drinks is available for ¥2,000 per person. Ten kinds of beer from 10 countries, covering Asia, Europe and the American continent, are available, along with four white wines, six red wines and seven soft drinks.

Dinner courses start at ¥6,200, and the a la carte option features such items as soup and appetizers from ¥900, hamburger sets for ¥1,900, beef steaks from ¥3,600 and grilled seafood from ¥3,200. For people who prefer soft drinks, including children, the drinks plan costs ¥600. Prices are subject to an additional 10 percent service charge.

The restaurant is open for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (last orders 9:30 p.m.).

Take a Kansai culinary trip

Five hotels located around Osaka Station are currently holding a culinary fair titled “Ajimeguri” (tasting trip) through Aug. 31.

Jointly held by Hotel Granvia Osaka, Hotel New Hankyu Osaka, Ramada Osaka, Hotel Hankyu International and Hotel Hanshin, the fair has been a popular promotion since 2005 and offers a special lunch course at each hotel under the same theme for ¥2,000.

This summer, under the theme of “spice and herb,” chefs from five hotels have each prepared dishes using spices such as black pepper and Japanese pepper, and herbs such as mint, thyme and Italian parsley.

The course includes three to four plates, in addition to bread and coffee or tea. Desserts using spices and herbs are optionally available at ¥500, and a glass of wine or beer costs ¥300.

Guests ordering the course option will get a stamp and can receive a ¥2,000 voucher by collecting stamps from all five hotels.
