Friday and Saturday evenings at the Hilton Tokyo’s first-floor Marble Lounge are “Tapas Night,” with traditional Spanish tapas appetizers, Spanish wine and cocktails, and the passionate rhythms of a flamenco guitarist (Fridays only).
More than 30 varieties of tapas, including salmorejo (cold tomato soup), pimentos rellenos (stuffed peppers), tortilla Espan~ola (Spanish omelet), paella Valencia or jamon Iberico (Spanish cured ham), can be enjoyed with sparkling Cordoniu Cava Seco, sangria or the Hilton Tokyo’s original mangria — mango-flavored sangria.
In addition to a la carte selections (starting from ¥500), there are tapas sets (three tapas of your choice) for ¥1,800 or ¥2,400, special plates from ¥1,800, a three tapas and drink set for ¥2,700, and a three tapas and all-you-can-drink set for ¥3,900. Prices are inclusive of tax and service charge.
For Tapas Night, between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., the Marble Lounge will dim the lights and be lit with candles.

Online restaurant reservations
The Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo have started accepting real-time online restaurant reservations. Guests can make a reservation for any of the hotel’s three restaurants at www.shangri-la.jp at any time and receive an instant e-mail confirmation of their booking.
To celebrate the launch of the online booking site, Italian restaurant Piacere and Japanese restaurant Nadaman will offer guests who book online a half-bottle of Italian wine to take home after their meal (one bottle per booking). Also, the Lobby Lounge will offer a box of chocolates to guests who make online reservations in August and September (one box per booking).
Diners who make reservations online will also be entered in a prize draw to win a one-night stay in a deluxe room. Second prize is dinner for two at either the Piacere or Nadaman and third prize is a treatment at CHI, The Spa.

Chateau Mouton courses
The Nagoya Kanko Hotel in the city’s Naka Ward will hold a wine seminar and dining event featuring Cha^teau Mouton Rothschild, which is said to be one of the five premier French vineyards, at the hotel’s first-floor French restaurant Escoffier on Aug. 27.
Anthony Gourmel, export manager of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, S.A., the company that owns the vineyard, will discuss the “Tradition and Innovation of Winemaking,” and Escoffier chef Yutaka Shimizu will prepare a special French course, which will be served with selected wines from the cha^teau. The talk will be in English with Japanese interpretation.
There are lunch and dinner courses.
At lunch, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Gourmel will talk about the company’s recent challenge in establishing a new premier vineyard, Domaine de Baron’arques. Including the lecture, the French course and a glass of Domaine de Baron’arques 2005, the lunch is ¥8,000.
At dinner, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Gourmel will talk about Cha^teau Mouton Rothschild 2004. Including the lecture, French course and four kinds of wines — Mouton Cadet Blanc, Mouton Cadet Reserve Medoc, Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2004 and Mouton Cadet Reserve Sauternes — the dinner is ¥18,000.
