Fukushima: Aizu-Tajima Gion Matsuri

Festival of the shrines, designated as one of the National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Properties.

Schedule & Key events:
● July 22
from 1 p.m.: Kodomo kabuki performance on the floats set in the center of the town
from 4 p.m.: Parade of four oyatai, on which kodomo kabuki are played, on the town's main streets
● July 23
from 7:50 a.m.: Nanahokai-gyoretsu (a procession of women in traditional attire)
from 10:30 a.m.: Parade of mikoshi
from 4 p.m.: Parade of four oyatai, on which kodomo kabuki are played, on the town's main streets

Location: Tadeuga-jinja Shrine, Tajima, Minamiaizu-machi, Fukushima


Access:
From Tobu Asakusa Station, take Tobu Isesaki Line to Aizu Tajima Station (via Yagan Railway Aizu-Kinugawa Line and Aizu Tetsudo Line).
