Four Japanese women together won the best actress award on Saturday at the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland for their performances in the film "Happy Hour," festival organizers said.

The four — Sachie Tanaka, 41, Hazuki Kikuchi, 37, Maiko Mihara, 41, and Rira Kawamura, 39 — had never acted before appearing in the movie "Happy Hour," directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, 36.

The film is about the lives and relationships among four women in Kobe. The close friends endure worsening relationships with their husbands, and divorce.

Tanaka said winning the award was "truly unbelievable."
