Just like its title suggests, this exhibition aims to show viewers that feeling cool and refreshed is not something that can only be experienced physically.
The Nezu Museum has selected 30 works from its collection, including paintings, ceramics and other crafts, which it believes can bring relief to viewers from the hot, humid summer. Through refreshing imagery, such as the wind expressed in the painting "Swallows Flying through Willow Branches" and the cool blue glaze of the Hizen-ware dish "Round Fan-Shaped Dish with Snow-Covered Fence Design," the works remind us of fresh breezes and bracing wintry scenes.
Also, in anticipation of a mollifying Autumn, other works depict motifs of seasonal plants and flowers, including suzuki grass and daisies; July 26-Sept. 7.
