'Kick-Ass 2'

They say that if you put 100 monkeys in a room full of typewriters for long enough, you'd eventually get some Shakespeare. But put 100 fanboys in the same room for an eternity and the results would probably still look a whole lot like "Kick-Ass 2." Jailbait Lolita in Catwoman fetish outfit? Check. High school dweeb who becomes superpowered and has not one but two latex-clad super-babes wanting to shag him? Check. A slew of "Oh, look how un-PC I am!" jokes that border on racist and homophobic? Check. Gnarly over-the-top violence that no PG-rated comic-book movie could dare to include? Check. Make it a trilogy and you're done.

"Kick-Ass 2" continues the adventures of wannabe superhero Dave/Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the far more lethal Mindy/Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) as they attend high school by day and fight crime by night, allying with new crusaders such as Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey) and combating supervillain The Motherf-cker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). "Kick-Ass 2" is fun in spurts, but it doesn't kick nearly as hard in the laughs department as its predecessor. You can be a superhero movie or a parody of one, but it's pretty hard to be both at the same time.
