This noirish cop thriller is based on a popular TV drama, which was in turn inspired by Tetsuya Honda's bestselling crime novels about a tough female detective (Yuko Takeuchi) solving crimes and butting heads with sexist colleagues and superiors. Takeuchi bravely discards her cute 'n' lovable image for the role, but can't overcome the film's familiar one-against-the-organization plot and retro macho overtones. Vicol Entertainment's Hong Kong region 3 DVD offers subs, but not much else.
